Syrian president urges consultation on regional issues

DAMASCUS (IRNA) -- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday called for continued Iran-Syria consultation on the latest regional developments.

He made the remarks while receiving the credentials of the newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Damascus, Ahmad Moussavi.
The Syrian president called for further expansion of all-out cooperation between the two states.
The Iranian ambassador, for his part, expressed hope that bilateral relations would boost during his mission.
Issues of mutual interest, including promotion of political, economic, and cultural relations were discussed by the two sides.
The meeting was also attended by Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Walid Mualem, and Minister of Presidency Affairs, Ghasan Laham.
